Located in downtown Austin, The Texas State Capitol is the capital building and seat of government of the state. Texas Capitol’s ornate architecture houses the offices and chambers of the Texas Legislature and of the Governor of Texas––and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1986. Standing 14 feet higher than the U.S. Capitol building, the massive three-story granite structure makes it the largest capitol building in the United States.
