Blue Bonnet Field IV | Floral Canvas or Framed Print | Various Sizes
Known as the state flower of Texas, the Blue Bonnet's name comes from the petals that resemble a woman's bonnet she would wear to shield herself from the sun. As an extension of Lady Bird Johnson's (the wife of the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon B. Johnson) efforts at highway beautification in the United States she encouraged the planting of native plants along Texas highways after she left the White House. And, as a result, Blue Bonnet blooms are now a common sight along these highways in the springtime.
